Innovative and Unique Approach
CANTERBURY INSTITUTE targets the biology of addiction and focuses on innovative approaches to treat substance dependence.
Recent scientific research shows that addiction is a disease associated with biochemical changes in the brain. Through advanced brain imaging, these changes that occur in the substance dependent brain can now be better understood. As our understanding deepens on how addiction occurs, medications for treating these adverse changes are becoming available. If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, you owe it to yourself to take a close look at the state-of-the-art integrated treatments available at the Canterbury Institute.
Canterbury is now offering the PROMETA Treatment Program – an innovative treatment for alcohol and drug addiction. This Program is a more comprehensive approach to treating substance dependence than anything that we have previously offered at Canterbury. The treatment combines cutting-edge medical treatment with nutritional support and psychological counseling – all available on an outpatient basis. The combination of these components is designed to help relieve cravings and anxiety, restore nutritional balance, and improve mental clarity, so clients can focus on their recovery, instead of their addiction.
Since the PROMETA Treatment Program is medically based, it is supervised and monitored by an ASAM-certified physician. The program is generally performed in an outpatient setting and typically requires just three visits* for the initial treatment, followed by one month of prescription medications and ongoing professional counseling.**
This innovative approach does not require patients to spend long periods away from home or work, instead allowing individuals with real-life schedules and commitments an opportunity for a medically-based, comprehensive recovery program.
If someone you love was diagnosed with a disease such as diabetes, your first course of action would be to help them find the best medical treatment available. Similarly, addiction treatment should be viewed in much the same way as diseases like diabetes, hypertension and depression. It should be treated and managed with medications, in conjunction with significant behavioral and lifestyle changes.
Our welcoming and experienced staff will ensure that you receive the highest quality care and that your privacy is respected. The PROMETA Center at Canterbury Institute offers a perfect blend of comfort, casual elegance, confidentiality and privacy.
The consequences of drug abuse and alcoholism are very real: divorce, loss of custody, unemployment, incarceration, injury, medical illness, and in many cases even death.
